Darren is an accomplished leader with a focus on designing culture, strategic thinking, change management, operational design, HR and project leadership of large-scale businesses. Moreover, he is an experienced General Manager equipped with a full and comprehensive understanding and experience of the CEO remit.


Darren’s leadership and delivery of portfolios and projects has been based upon applying a strategic approach to align HR activities with the broader business needs and goals, implementing improvements to existing practices and operating costs, and appropriate intervention to facilitate acceptance of required changes.

His transformational leadership style embraces the diversity of followers. He believes in the potential for transformation and growth and looks to empower all team members to become emotional shareholders in the delivery of quality outcomes.



When I first met with Andrew about joining the team, to my surprise our conversation did not center around law. Instead, we spoke of the importance of designing a team culture filled with likeminded legal professionals who truly understood that first and foremost the legal profession was a ‘relationships’ industry.

  • extensive multimillion-dollar capital works projects within the education sector including learning in New Queensland Building, Sheldon Entertainment Centre and Australian School of the Arts Precinct;
  • design and leadership of human resources and work force planning for over 300 staff;
  • design and daily management of budget provision in excess of $40 million within the independent education sector;
  • audit, review and design of statutory regulations and policies, personnel procedures regarding employment, general working conditions for employees across multiple large-scale businesses; and
  • Chair of the University of Queensland AFC Advisory Board.
